The robotics industry in Japan is quite huge. In terms of influence to the business, it can be argued that it’s right up there with their automotive. Also, it is regarded that no country puts more importance in revolutionizing robotics more than Japan. In their 2009 article, TIME even predicted that Japan’s total revenue for such may reach $70 billion come 2025. There are many different types of robotics, but the “big four” are: Humanoids, Animal Robots, Androids, and Social Robots.

If you try to compare its history to man’s evolution, Karakuri Ningyo and Chichira Aiko can best represent the “ancestor” and the “modern man”. The former, a mechanized puppet from the 1800s, would be the Austra-lopithecus, while Chichira Aiko will be the homo-sapien.
