Several parks in Gunma are known for cherry blossom flowers but Tsutsujigaoka Park is known for its azalea flowers. It is a 11 hectare park which has over 10,000 azaleas planted all over the park.
Highlight of the visit would be its major attraction, the 800 year old giant azalea tree towering over 5 meters that has a azalea tunnel that allows visitors to pass through.
Best time to visit the park is during mid April to early May as it celebrates Azalea Festival with about 10,000 azaleas and the popular 800 year old azalea tree are in full bloom.
Ready your feet in walking around the park along the walkways, but don't worry you can rest underneath the trees.
It's a 15-20-minute walk from Tsutsujigaoka Station (Keio Line).
The park is open and can be reach anytime. Admission fee is charge only during the Azalea Festival. The fee usually cost 620 yen.
