Architecture enthusiast? Here's a great treat for you. Consider visiting Benesse House in Naoshima which is both a museum and a hotel. It incorporates guest rooms and spaces for display of contemporary art.
The complex is known to be the centerpiece of the Benesse Corporation's art facilities on the Naoshima Island. All the buildings in this place are designed by the popular artist, Ando Tadao which happened to be the designer of the nearby Chichu Art Museum.
The complex consists of four buildings; the Museum, Oval, Park and the Beach and each of the building is filled with their own unique artwork and guest rooms.
The museum is the main highlight of your visit in this place. It houses artworks created by different artists from both Japan and abroad. If you are staying in the hotel, you can have all day access to the museum.
Along the beaches, you can see 20 art pieces including the famous pumpkin. Many of these art pieces can be found along the shore and cliffs just below the museum.
If you're tired, hungry and looking for some souvenirs to buy, restaurants, cafes, shops and spas can also be found in the area.
