The 21st Japan Media Art Festival will happen from June 13 to June 24 at The National Art Center Tokyo. It will present selected works featuring a wide range of styles, genres and forms of expression, including the materials documenting the lifetime accomplishments of Special Achievement Awards winners.

Japan Media Arts Festival is an annual festival by the Japan Agency for Cultural Affairs, which has been exhibiting since 1979. Every year, it honors outstanding media outputs from animation and comics, to media art and games. It has four divisions; Art, Entertainment, Animation and Manga, in which the festival gives awards in each category. The Japan Media Arts Festival also provides a platform for appreciation of the all the award-winning works.

The festival begins with an open competition for each category, to be judged by a jury of artistic peers and other notable personalities. Within each category, one Grand Prize, four excellent prizes and one encouragement prize will be chosen and awarded.
