The winter edition of the Comic Market or Comiket is set to be held on December 29 to 31 at the Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo, Japan.
Comiket focuses on dojinshi, an independently created and published manga by independent artists. All of the self-published anime, manga, video games and other related genres will be exhibited.
Approximately 35,000 publishing groups are expected to participate in this year’s winter Comiket, while approximately 590,000 visitors are anticipated to flood Tokyo Big Sight.
Aside from the dojinshi, there are also coplayers seen around the area. For those who want to bring their costumes, an amount of 800 yen should be paid to cosplay. The organizers also advise the visitors to be in good health and to dress accordingly.
Comiket is one of the largest anime conventions in Japan and held twice a year in August and December. The Summer Comiket 2017 was held last August 11 to 14 and it managed to attract almost half a million visitors. Despite of the hot weather, the cosplayers set the mood with their costumes.
The first Comiket event was held on December 21, 1975 with only 32 participating circles and 600 visitors, but it continues to grow over time.
