The winners of the 16th MTV Video Music Awards Japan (VMAJ) has been announced on Monday, September 4.
There were 17 categories considered for this year’s MTV VMAJ. All of the winners were selected by the creative directors of MTV.
The Best Male Video was awarded to Gen Hoshino, with his “Family Song.” Kana Nishino bagged the Best Female Video award for the song “Pa.” Rekishi won the Best Alternative Video for the song “KOTAKU.” The hip hop group, Kick the Can Crew got the Best Hip Hop Video for the song “1000%.” And the Best Choreography award went to Gen Hoshino for the song “Koi.’’

Best Group Video (Japan) – Blast! By Momoiro Clover Z
Best New Artist Video (Japan) – Lightning by THE RAMPAGE from EXILE TRIBE
Best Rock Video – CHARM by WANIMA
Best R&B Video – (RE)PLAY by Daichi Miura
Best Dance Video – Labyrinth by MONDO GROSSO
Best Collaboration Video – Boukyaku feat. KOHH by Utada Hikaru
For the international category, the Best Male Video award was given to Bruno Mars for his hit single “That’s What I Like,” while Katy Perry got the Best Female Video award for her song ‘’Bon Appetit” feat. Miggos. American DJ duo, The Chainsmokers’ hit single “Closer feat. Halsey” got the Best Group Video award. The Best New Artist Video was awarded to Shawn Mendes for his song “Treat You Better,” and the Best Metal Video award went to Metallica for their song Hardwired.
The winner for the Best Video of the Year will be selected by the public through online voting. The results will be announced on September 27 at the MTV VMAJ 2017 THE LIVE, along with the performances of several artists such as Momoiro Clover Z, BUCK-TICK, KICK THE CAN CREW, MONDO GROSSO, and, WANIMA.
