Your phenomenal Pokemon franchise is now invading the city of Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, for the Pikachu Outbreak 2017.
Pikachu Outbreak is an annual festival in Yokohama. For this year’s celebration, the organizers added more events and even included other Pokémon characters.
Last August 9, 2017, the biggest Ferris wheel in the world, the Cosmo Clock Ferris Wheel, showcased the world’s biggest Poke Ball light show. Pikachu’s face also appearred on the Ferris wheel.
The Pikachu Outbreak is a week-long celebration running from August 9 to August 15, 2017. The celebration included some Pikachu-themed trains with a Pikachu conductor on it. The Pikachu Airship took off and flew in 21 areas in Minato Mirai. The flying schedule was 10am, 2pm, and 3pm, but there could have been changes depending on weather conditions. Aside from Pikachu’s Airship, Team Rocket’s Meowth hot air balloon was also spotted in the Sakuragicho Station on August 9, wherein the visitors can take a short ride to the skies.
There was also a Pokémon Go Event held at Yokohama’s seaside park, from 10am to 6pm. There is also a Pikachu Carnival Parade scheduled on August 14 at Nihon Odori Avenue in Yokohama.
Over 1,500 Pikachus had danced and marched in Minato Mirai.
