Honda collaborates with Japanese rock band, ONE OK ROCK, and Neon Genesis Evangelion director, Hideaki Anno for their new TVCM “Go, Vantage Point.”
The said TVCM was aired around 21:53 on July 30, 2017, simultaneously on TV, Youtube and on the Honda Japan official website. The ad is for Honda’s latest Honda Civic model, which was revealed on July 27. The 60-second video features the members of ONE OK ROCK, including Taka Moriuchi, Toru Yamashita, Tomoya Kanki and Ryota Kohama. Another star of the video is Anno Hideaki driving the new Honda Civic in two different places, Japan and in a foreign country.
Before the launch of the TVCM, they first posted an outdoor print advertisement at the Shibuya 109 building in Tokyo, with the words “#10969 GVP” on it. ONE OK ROCK’s vocalist Taka Moriuchi, also teased his fans by posting an image of the ad on his Instagram account.
The first two teaser videos were released on July 2 on the official YouTube channel of Honda, as well as on their website. They are 15-seconder videos featuring Taka riding a car. On July 17, Honda released another two 15-seconder teasers.
According to Honda, the collaboration aims to create a brand new image for the Civic. Honda is bound to release three new Civic Series: the Civic Hatchback, the Civic Sedan, and the Civic Type R. The first model of Honda Civic was released on 1972 and now has approximately 24 million units around the world.
