The Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2017 was held last September 21 to 24 at the Makuhari Convention Center in Kaihim-Makuhari, Chiba, with the theme “Reality Unlocked.”
A video game expo held annually, TGS was organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) and Nikkei Business Publications, Inc.
There were 609 companies and organizations from 36 countries and regions who participated at this year’s Tokyo Game Show 2017. There were 12 exhibition areas for each type of games being presented in the events. A total of 254, 311 visitors were said to have attended the event. Though lower than last year’s record-breaking attendance of 271,224 visitors, the event had not disappointed to introduce the latest trends in the field.
This year, the highly represented games were the virtual reality games. Most of the booths offered VR demo experiences for all the visitors.
TGS featured a variety of new experiences such as the thrilling e-Sports tournaments.
The e-Sports X featured event was divided into two: the “PlayStation presents Blue Stage” which was sponsored by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and the “Samsung SSD presents Red Stage” which was sponsored by Samsung Japan. Each stage had games with different genres such as fighting games and first-person shooters, which visitors, whether kids or adults, enjoyed.
Aside from the games, there were also a Cosplay Fashion Show and a Cosplay Collection Night, for all the anime enthusiasts who attended the TGS 2017.
Some of the gadgets and games featured at the event, which were set for future release, were Sony’s Dual Shock 4 controllers, VR adaptation of Neko Atsume, HD remake of Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner, VR Final Fantasy XV, and more.
The phenomenal Pokemon, Pikachu also appeared at the event to promote the Pokken Tournament game developed by Bandai Namco.
There also was a live streaming service for Japan and other countries, for those who were not be able to attend this year’s TGS 2017.
