A new Japanese therapeutic method is being practiced in Japan called, otonamaki which was made to relieve stress and back problems such as posture and stiffness. It is also a great way to stretch and improve your flexibility. The popularity of this therapy is starting to get big.
In this therapy, people are wrapped in breathable cloth for 20 minutes, though, you may opt for a longer session. Then, they get monitored by a health care professional.
The concept came from the fetal position in the womb. The tightness and the warmth of the cloth gives guests a sense of security. The goal of the experience is actually to make people feel like they are in the womb again.
Images of adult wrapping have surfaced on the internet and the public had mixed reactions saying that it looks scary, as if the image was taken straight out of a horror movie scene. Some said they would suffer from a claustrophobic experience by being in such a tight space.
In contrary, individuals who have tried the method themselves had nothing but good words for it. A 40-year-old customer even said that the experience was the opposite of feeling tight, “It looks cramped but it doesn't feel tight at all. It's the opposite of that. Afterwards, I felt an improvement with my shoulders and back.”
