After 54 years, Japan has experienced hatsuyuki again in the month of November. Hatsuyuki, or the first snow started to fall around dawn today, and Tokyo’s temperature dropped to near zero degrees Celsius.
The snow was recorded 40 days earlier than last year, according to the Japanese Meteorological Agency. The snow was caused by the unusual cold front over the city.
The first snowfall is anticipated to cause a 2 centimeter-deep white dust in Koshin area, around 15 centimeters in northern Kanto region, and 10 centimeters in all the way from Hakone in Kanagawa Prefecture to Chichibu in Saitama.
The agency also advised people of accumulated snow on electric wires and trees, and slippery roads due to ice. The unexpected weather may cause delays in public transportations.
The last November hatsuyuki happened in 1962.
