Fans of the famed mechas of Neon Genesis Evangelion and avid supporters of the giants of Attack on Titan will be thrilled by the new attractions that Osaka’s Universal Studios Japan (USJ) announced to open starting December 16 of this year.
The Evangelion XR Ride, with the aid of virtual reality goggles, will be simulating a real battle between the mechas and the Apostles. Providing a striking 360-degree view of the scene, aficionados will now have a semi-actual experience of how Eva pilots Shinji Ikari and Rei Ayanami were fighting the villains in the anime.
On January 13, 2017, the Attack on Titan: The Real 4D 2 will turn the theme park’s 4D house into a simulated Wall Maria area, complete with visual and sensory experience of giants hungry for human beings.

These attractions are part of the 2017 exhibit of the park’s annual event called Universal Cool Japan, featuring attractions from famous Japanese artists, movies, animes and video games. In 2015 and 2016, the park introduced the Evangelions in their 4D theatre, while presenting actual 15-meter high giants for the Titan exhibit, making the 2017 display their third time on the park.
Accompanying the Evas and Titans next year will be a 4D theatre experience for Godzilla, as well as live performance shows from the video game Sengoku Warriors
The Universal Cool Japan 2017 exhibits will be offered until June 25 of next year.
