June 24 and June 25 has been the time to dress-up like your favorite from Japanese genres of manga and anime. Toyako Manga Anime Festa, the biggest cosplay event in Hokkaido, has been held in Lake Toya Hot-Spring Resort.
Toyako has been filled with a whole bunch of anime cosplayers in the two-day event. Most of them roamed around the town and, even entering the stores in full make-up and costumes. Even the staff of different shops, restaurants and convenience stores around Toyako dressed up during theses days.
The Toyako Manga and Anime Festival began in 2010. This has been the eighth time that this festival has been held. At first, this event is simply related to the Lake Toya Onsen 100 Year Anniversary Project, where the focus is merely for promoting culture, tourism. Now, this event has become the biggest cosplay event in Hokkaido.
The festival included cosplay performances, an exhibition of Itasha, sales of Dojinshi, and an exhibition of the original pictures. There had also been a mini live, talk show by voice actors, exhibition, and many more.
