Shigeto Koyama, original designer of Baymax from Big Hero 6, will be a guest speaker at the upcoming workshop of Dien Bien Phu artist, Daisuke Nishijima and Japanese writer Sayawaka.
The workshop aims to discover new talents beginning April 2017 until March 2018.
The workshop entitled Geron Hiramike Manga Kyoshitsu, or the Principles of Shining Manga Class. There will be a total of 14 sessions, wherein students will be more exposed to the theories and philosophies of creating manga.
The exclusive workshop is only limited to 30 enrollees, on a first-come, first-served basis. The workshop costs 218,000 yen ($2,000), and enrollment ends on the 28th of February. In line with this, a promotional event was conducted at the Genron Café in Tokyo last January 20.
Furthermore, other guest speakers will make the said workshop more meaningful. Some of those who will join are Angel Sanctuary key animator, Tetsuya Imai and Susume!! Pirates creator Hisashi Eguchi.
Here are some of the works created by Nishijima’s students from past workshops:
"Renewal"
"Going well"
"Shining Manga Class is the Strongest"
"Chance Encounter"
"Shining Manga Class... is the Worst..."
