Located in Kagoshima Prefecture, Yakushima island has an area of 5.4.88 square kilometres. It's known for its designation as a world heritage site by the UNESCO. The island comprises a warm and temperate forest and a number of tourists sites such as Mt. Nagata, Mt. Kurio, Mt. Miyanoura, Yodo River, Ooko falls and Senpiro Fall. To get there from Tokyo, take a plane from Tokyo Haneda to Kagoshima.
