More popularly known as Todai or UTokyo, the University of Tokyo is considered as the most sought-after school in all of Japan. Composed of 10 faculties, 5 campuses, 15 graduate schools, 11 research institues, 30,000 students and 2,100 foreign ones, the school had been the home of Japanese academic excellence since its foundation in 1877, during the Meiji era. It was even called the Imperial University during that time. According to the Asia University Rankings 2017, the University of Tokyo is ranked number 7 among all the academic excellence centers in this side of the world.
