Japan is famous for its nature reserves situated right in the middle of the city. One of the more famous ones is the Ueno Park, located in the district of Taito. The land where the park is presently situated formerly belongs to the Kan'ei-ji temple. Established in 1873, and thus considered as Japan's first public park, Ueno is actually founded in relation to the Meiji government's ruling to adapt Western and international practices.
Bearing hundreds of sakura or cherry blossom trees, the Ueno Park is a famous destination for travelers seeking the best hanami or flower-viewing experience during spring in Japn.
