Also known as the Sueyama Shrine, the place is famous for its grand torii, not made of wood and not of the usual red or orange color, but because it is made of porcelain.
Situated in the town of Arita, in the district of Nishimatsuura, Saga Prefecture, Japan, not only is the toriie made of porcelain, but also all the other statues and sculptures in the shrine, including the komainu or the lion-dog creature guardians in front of the shrine. Arita is actually known for producing the best porcelain in the Land of the Rising Sun.
