Japan does not only honor traditional artists. They also know how to preserve the modern art practice known in the world as photography.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography currently houses more than 28,000 photographs, not only from Japan but also from different parts of the globe. Some of the notable names, whose works are displayed in the museum are Shihachi Fujimoto, Hisae Imai, Takeji Iwamiya, Akira Komoto, Motoichi Kumagai, and Seiji Kurata.
The building not only showcases photographs but also some moving images, rare films which are shown in the museum's cinema.
