Of all the castles in Japan, this one is the only one to presently house the monarchy of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Located in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, the Imperial Palace is the official residence of his majesty, the Emperor of Japan. The compound includes the main palace, as well as the private residences of the other members of the Imperial Family. There are also museums and archives inside which shows the rich culture, heritage and history of Japan. Administrative offices for the Imperial Family are also located here.

This place is actually the site where the former Edo Castle had been established.
