Literally located next to the Tokyo Tower, the Zojoji Temple is the main holy site of the Jodo sect of the Japanese Buddhism, in the region of Kanto.
Built in 1393, the temple was moved to the current area by shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1598. He even chose the are to be the official temple of the Tokugawa clan. As a matter of fact, a mausoleum for some of the clan members are also situated in the area.
The site can be reached through the Mita Subway Line, in the Onarimon or Shibakoen Station.
