Situated in the city of Sapporo, in the coldest prefecture of Japan, Hokkaido, the Maruyama Zoo definitely can house polar bears intheir premises. Being hailed as the 10th largest zoo in Japan, after its inauguration in 1951, the zoo now hosts more than 990 types of mammals, birds, and reptiles and other kinds of animals. The Maruyama Zoo believes that recreating a habitat that is almost the same as the animals' original habitat is the key to giving the best for them. Because of this, the place is hailed as one of the most nature-oriented zoos.
