A green valley of lined with steep but majestic rock formations with a crystal clear body water in between, This is the Takachiho Gorge located at the Nishiusuki District, in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan.
The almost transparent turquoise body of water is the Gokase River. The cliffs are made from slow forming lava that eventually turned into volcanic columns in the shape of dragon scales. Somewhere at the end of the Gokase River is the 17 meter high cascading cool waters of the Minainotaki Falls.
There are two ways to enjoy your travel in Takachiho Gorge. One is by boating in the river. The second is by walking along the path on top.
