Part of the Kanagawa Prefecture, Shodo Island has been famous for this picturesque strip of white sand pathway called the Angel Road. Literally, the name of the island means, Island of Small Beans. Shodo Island is also said to be the very first place in the Land of the Rising Sun to have successfuly grown the plant olive. Because of this, the place is also called the Olive Island. The island also houses the world's narrowest strait, which is the Dobuchi Strait. This body of water is just around 9.93 meters or 32.58 feet at the narrowest.
