Yes, this bizarre-looking, pyramid-shaped building is actually a temple in Japan.
Located near the Tokyo Tower and the Emperor's Palace, the Reiyukai Shakaden Temple is actually a sacred place for the ITR or the Inner Trip Reiyukai. The ITR is said to be a movement that has been associated to Buddhism. But according to the group's website, they are actually a "non-governmental organization (NGO) in the field of mental, physical, spiritual well-being and education. The establishment of the Reiyukai Shakaden Temple happened in 1975. And being a Buddhist sect, there are monks inside the temple to accommodate travelers.
