A promise of over 4200 color pigments and, more than 200 antique ink sticks await every art lover in a museum-like retail shop in Shinagawa, Tokyo, called the Pigment Tokyo.
Truly an art store that is uniquely its own, Pigment Tokyo offers not just its aesthetically lined-up art supplies, but also its grandiose yet minimalist interior design. This is the work of architect Kengo Kuma, who paneled the ceilings with an organic design made of bamboo slats, which visually resemble a paintbrush.
However, the real reason that Pigment Tokyo isn’t anything like your usual art store is that it introduces itself as an artists' hub, with a handful of knowledge and tradition.
