Aside from the famous Osaka Aquarium, Osaka has more treats for sea lovers out there.
The Osaka Maritime Museum was launched by the Mayor of Osaka City on July 14, 2000. The magnificent and totally futuristic approach of the dome museum is attributed to a French architect name Paul Andreu. But being on a reclaimed land, the structure needed more than just superb outside aesthetics. It also needed over-the-top engineering planning. The English engineering company named Arup made the engineering design. The museum features a replica of the Edo period trading ship, called the Naniwa Maru as its main attraction.
