Akita Omoriyama Zoo was established on July 1962. The zoo is also known as Milve. It is located in Akita prefecture. It is a 15 hectare zoo with 114 different species.
In 1974, the zoo successfully bred a tanuki or a racoon dog in captivity, a barn owl in 1978, and a Japanese marten in 1994.
If you would be able to visit the zoo, you may get a chance to feed an animal during their Manma Time, It is one of the activities that you can do in the zoo. You will also see of the predatory animals such as lions, Amur tigers, wolves and Asian black bears. They are separated in a transparent glass wall so that the visitor will be able to see them in different angles.
