You may have been to a UNESCO World Heritage site or one that is considered to be national treasure or a place with a very serene surrounding but all that can be found in one certain city in Japan, Nikko. Nikko is called the "town with World Heritage" and is part of Japan’s Tochigi Prefecture.
The Toshogu Shrine is one of the "Shrines and Temples of Nikkō." The place was dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, a known Japanese warrior, and founder of the Tokugawa dynasty of shoguns. The shrine is also known to be his final resting place.
Toshogu Shrine is one the most luxuriously decorated shrines in Japan, with gold leaves and wood carving mainly used to decorate its buildings. The complex has more than a dozen of building set out in the forest which you can also stroll around to.
