The National Art Center is Japan's largest exhibition facility in Japan. It opened on January 21, 2007 and is located in the middle of Nogizaka and Roppongi station. It is a joint project of the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the National Museums Independent Administrative Institution. The building was designed by Kisho Kurokawa. The site the museum stands on previously belonged to the University of Tokyo.
The National Art Center does not have a permanent collection of its own, opting for special exhbitions instead curated by different organizations. Therefore, entrance to the museum is free. It is open from 10AM to 6PM, except Tuesdays.
