Known as the Nara Kokuritsu Hakubutsukan, this art museum, though it doesn't look one, houses Japanese Buddhist art from various artist all over the Land of the Rising Sun. Opening in 1889, the museum has since been exhibiting a lot of paintings, sculptures, scrolls and even ceremonial items, all relating to Buddha. The museum added a new facility, which has been housing temporary exhibitions from different artists and institutions. One of the patrons of the museum is the annual autumn exhibition of the Todaiji Temple.
The musuem includes Englishh information throughout the facility to aid foreign travelers.
