Nanzen-ji is a Renzai Zen Temple that can be found in northeastern Kyoto. Having been established in 1921, the structures of Nanzen-ji had been destroyed by fire for four times. One of its notable structures is the gate called, Sanmon. It was constructed in the 13th century and has been destroyed in 1369. As a result, the gate that stands today is a reconstruction from 1628. The hojo or the abbot's quarters is known for its gardens and art which was built in the 1600s. The whole building has been designated as national treasure.
