This creatively-designed building is called the Nakagin Capsule Tower. Located in the Shimbashi district of the Minato Ward in central Tokyo, the building was designed by architect Kisho Kurokawa under the Japanese Metabolism architectural movement. The Japanese metabolism architecture is all about the combination of megastructures with organic biological growth, as depicted in the photograph. The building is actually composed of different capsules, put together in such an non-uniform way to arrive at the present design. The building actually has a mix of residential and business tenants who utilize each capsule.
