Lying on the Pacific Ring of Fire, Japan will never run out of volcanoes on its list.
Mount Chokai is another active volcano in the Tohoku region of the Land of the Rising Sun, which broders the Akita and Yamagata Prefectures. Rising around 2236 meters or 7336 feet above sea level, Mount Chokai is famous for its massiveness and its (roughly) symmetrical cone. Because of this, the volcano is also called by natives as the Akita Fuji. The mountain is regarded as sacred and is wholely worshipped by the Shugendo branch of Shintoism.
