Situated in the port area of the city of Kobe, on a piece of reclaimed land, the Meriken Park is a waterfront recreational area that will surely welcome all the travelers.
Though destroyed by the Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995, the park has regained itself and furnished itself with lawns of greens and modern art installations. But even though it has risen from the ashes, the damaged area of the waterfront has not been repaired to commemorate the earthquake which took thousands of lives. A memorial was also established in the park to remember those who gave their lives.
