The M-Wave Ice Skating rink, located in Nagano Prefecture has been serving as a venue to a lot of world events since 1998. It hosetd the speed skating events of the Winter Olympic Games during that year. The Winter Paralympic Games also happened here, from the opening ceremony to the ice sledge competition, to the closing events. In thhe Special Olympic Games in 2007, the M-Wave also hosted the opening and finishing events.

The shape of the whole structure of M-Wave is wavy, which is said to have been adapted from the mountain ranges of Nagano.
