Also known as Kyodai, the Kyoto university is considered to be the second oldest university in Japan being founded in 1897. Being one of Japan's National Seven Universities, it is now ranked number 14 at the Asia University Rankings 2017. It ranked 91st at the World University Rankings 2017. At the span of its academic existence, the university had gave birth to around 10 Nobel Prize laureates, 2 Fields medalists and one Gauss Prize winner, among other world achievement. This had been the home of Japan's very first Nobel prize awardee, Hideki Yukawa, who grabbed the title in 1949 for his studies in the field of Physics.
