Also known as Hell's Valley, the Jigokudani Monkey Park is called as such because of the steam coming from heat and the boiling water from the hot baths. Located in the town of Yamanouchi, in the Shimotakai District of Nagano Prefecture, the place has actually been more known as a sanctuary of the wild Japanese macaques, or the Japanese snow monkeys which can be seen taking a bath at the springs. They can predominantly be seen in the area during winter, as they enjoy the heat from the springs amidst the heavy snowfall.
