Asking directions in Japanese is not that complicated. You can do it by learning some few words and phrases. The first thing is to use sumimasen すみません or excuse me. If you know you are heading for a train station it's called Chikatetsu. Then ask Chikatetsu wa doko desu ka? ちかてつ は どこ です か? or Where is the subway?
