“Where can I enjoy reasonably priced food, while being served and entertained by staff comprised of monkeys?”
If you ever wondered about this, Japan offers you the Kayabukiya Tavern, a traditional Japanese izakaya. Located in Utsunomiya, the tavern ‘employs’ Macaque monkeys.
From delivering hot towels to performing stunts, the monkeys are Kayabukiya Tavern’s pride. To ensure the monkeys’ rights, they are only allowed to work for two hours a day. They also do a meet-and-greet with the customers, with some of the pictures of famous people who have visited are posted on the wall.
The Kayabukiya Tavern was also featured in multiple publications.
