The Kyoto prefecture proves once again that it is the one and only "old Japan."
The Kinkaku-ji can literally be translated as "Temple of the Golden Pavilion" because it is a three-storey building wherein the top two stories are made of pure gold leaf.
The temple was completed in 1397 but was burned down by a 22-year-old novice monk in 1950. Five years later, the pavilion was rebuilt as a close copy to the original.
The golden temple is a Zen Buddhist temple is a National Special Historic Site and a National Special Landscape that can be found in Kyoto, Japan.
