Located in the city of Morioka in Iwate Prefecture in Japan, the Iwate Museum of Art is one of the museums that cater to home-grown talents.
Opened in 2001, the Iwate Kenritsu Bijutsukan, as known in Japan, has permanent exhibitions from three of the most anticipated Japanese artists from Iwate. The first one is an Avant-garde artist who blended cubism into the Japanese yoga. The Japanese yoga style of painting focused primarily in Western techniques. His name is Tetsugoro Yorozu. The second one, Shunsuke Matsumoto, who subsequently lost his sense of hearing, was also a yoga painter. The third one is a sculptor in the name of Yasutake Funakoshi.
