Situated on top of Mount Shiroyama, Yokoyama, Yamaguchi Prefecture, the castle took around five years to be completed. Surrounded by the Nishiki River, the place is also strategic for defense. The height is said to be around four stories, giving each traveler a good 200 meters above Yamaguchi. This gives visitors the best 360 degree panoramic view of the city.
The castle actually didn't last long in the history of Japan. Sever years after the construction has been completed, the people was forced to tear it down by decree of the current shogun. The present castle was actually just a faithful relica of the original castle, which was constructed in 1962.
