Claimed as the oldest castle in the Land of the Rising Sun, the Inuyama Castle is only one of the 12 castles which survived the test of time since before the Edo period of Japan. Located in the city of Inuyama, in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, the castle was built on top of a cliff, that was said to be once the location of the Haritsuna Shrine. It was said that the shrine was intentionally moved to another location to build this castle for the Naruse clan of samurais and daimyos during feudal Japan.
