Visit the Tokyo National Museum to see the beautiful artworks of the bygone eras.
The Honkan, or the main building, is where the Japanese Gallery resides. The Japanese Gallery contains 23 exhibition rooms on two floors, exhibiting priceless artifacts of each period, such as ceramics, sculptures, swords, calligraphy, military attire, daily garments, Noh and Kabuki theater costumes, as well as the National Treasures.
The Japanese Gallery is the face of the Tokyo National Museum. Its building’s western design was fused with the Japanese ‘Emperor’s crown’ style after it was damaged in the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.
