The Hitachi Seaside Park in Ibaraki Prefecture is known to provide colorful sceneries all-year round.
However, in autumn, it promises a scarlet wonderland, mainly due to the Kochia plants. Known as the broom grass, or the houki gusa in Japanese, the plant is actually used to make brooms. However, in Akita Prefecture, it has been transformed into a delicacy.
The leaves of the plant are actually green from July to mid September, which turns red from early to mid October, making the best scarlet fields ever during kouyou or the autumn colors.
The photo is taken by Reginald Pentinio, under Creative Commons. He said that the little girl in the photo has been called by her mother, as his shutter captured the moment.
