The Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine, located in the district of Motomachi, Naka Ward in Hiroshima Prefecture, was one of those who witnessed the wrath of the war.
The place was said to have been built to honor the memory of the fallen soldiers during the historical Boshin War or the Japanese Revolution.
In 1945, the prefecture became the victim of one of the most devastating events of another war: the World War II. The shrine was said to have been one of the thousands of victims of the Hiroshima atomic bombing. The place has been reconstructed lot of times to be what it is today.
