Behind every good film is a beautiful scoring. This is true of Joe Hisaishi, Japan's very own John Williams. Joe Hisaishi is a Japanese composer, musical director, and film scorer.
He has composed over 100 film scores, the likes of which are featured in Studio Ghibli classics like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle and My Neighbor Totoro. He is one of the most acclaimed Japanese musicians with seven Japanese Academy Awards for Best Music under his belt. In November 2009, he was awarded with a Medal of Honor with purple ribbon by the Government of Japan. He recently performed the music he composed for Studio Ghibli in a symphony concert at the Palais des Congrès de Paris.
