Though situated deep in the forests of Mount Hakone, the shrines are prominently marked by the great torii gates, two leading travelers to the main shrines, and one situated in Lake Ashi, as depicted in the photograph.
The path from the torii gates are furnished with lanterns, to light up one's way up, amidst the tall trees, as one walks until the main building of the shrine. There was actually another shrine, the Mototsumiya, or original shrine, which is situated on top of Komagatake, one of the numerous summits of Mount Hakone in Kanagawa Prefecture.
