The Engyoji Temple is a Buddhist temple about 1,000 feet high on top of Mt. Shosha, located at Hyogo Prefecture in Japan. It is a large temple complex with a rich history of over 1,000 years.
Because of the gorgeous scenery, the location is frequently used as a filming location for various films and TV dramas, bringing in some history in different mediums, including Tom Cruise's "The Last Samurai."
On the way to the temple complex, you'll be able to come across different statues and old artifacts. Upon reaching the top of Mt. Shosha, you'll be able to take in the view of Himeji City and the Seto Inland Sea.
In order to reach the Engyoji Temple, take a 10-15 minute uphill walk from the ropeway station.
